Acousto-optic modulator has maximum average power of 1 W

A fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulator (AOM) controls the repetition rate of pulses in ultrafast lasers.

A fiber-coupled acousto-optic modulator (AOM) controls the repetition rate of pulses in ultrafast lasers. It separates the pulse train with a rise time of 10 ns, has an antireflection (AR) coating, and a high damage threshold. Maximum average power is 1 W and maximum peak power is 1000 W, with insertion loss <4 dB and extinction ratio of >45 dB.

TeraXion’s AOM is the result of more than 15 years of experience in ultrafast laser components, RF electronics and robust packaging. The AOM pulse picker allows users to choose any repetition rate with a duty cycle of up to 100 %. This reduces the laser oscillators’ fundamental repetition rate. In chirped-pulse amplification systems, a lower repetition rate increases each pulse’s energy for more efficient processing.

TeraXion’s RF Driver Unit for AOM

RF Driver Unit
TeraXion offers a 200 MHz driver unit (RF-DU), a low rise time RF driver matched to its acousto-optic modulator (AOM). The RF driver’s ultra-flat response delivers the perfect RF signal to extract the best performance from the AOM. The RF-DU allows users to modulate the AOM from 0 to 100% duty cycle. This reduces the laser oscillators’ fundamental repetition rate.
