The Hall effect switch works by detecting changes in state caused by the proximity of a magnetic object. When a magnetic object approaches the element on the Hall switch, the Hall effect occurs, altering the internal circuitry to control the switch’s power supply or de-energization. Therefore, the object being detected must be magnetic.

The Hall effect switch displays a fixed state when the magnetic object approaches or moves away from the switch. You can use a fixed switch state according to your specific needs; the sensitivity of the switch can be determined by varying the size of the magnetic object and can also be adjusted by changing the supplied voltage to control the distance to the magnetic object and the sensitivity curve.
