Focusing Lens: Similar to other laser systems used in metalworking applications, the primary function of a focusing lens is to concentrate the energy of the laser beam output at a specific distance (focal length) – depending on the application. Focal length (defined by the radius of curvature of the lens) is the most important characteristic of a focusing lens.
Collimating Lens: A collimating lens captures the highly divergent output of the optical fiber and creates a parallel (collimated) beam with reduced divergence, thus achieving a suitable propagation distance.
